Contest: Lucy Schwartz Signed EP Giveaway

It's already more than a year ago that I featured Lucy Schwartz on here for the first time. I fell head over heels in love with Lucy's first release "Winter in June" and have been hoping and waiting for new songs from her ever since. The single "Gone Away" she released last year made my anticipation even higher and instantly became my favorite song of hers. Last week I found out about the new "Help Me! Help Me!" EP she's releasing January 26th. The new EP features earlier released singles like "Gone Away" and "Gravity" and three brand new songs.

1. Help Me! Help Me! (mp3)
2. Those Days
3. Gravity
4. Gone Away
5. Respect

The good news is: I may give one signed copy of the EP away for FREE, to one of the readers of this blog. Exciting, eh! Well this is how it is going to work, as you can see on the top of the page, the name of this blog is LetMeLikeIt-a daily updated musicblog. I want everyone to come up with a new tagline, so come up with a catchy new phrase that perfectly suits with what this blog stands for.

You can post your tagline/phrase in a comment (don't forget to add your e-mail address so I can contact you) or mail it to me.

This contest ends the 31st of January 00:00 (GMT+1)

CONTEST CLOSED, WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY.

Gold Motel

Ever since I discovered the indie pop/rock band The Hush Sound and heard Greta Morgan’s vocals in “Wine Red” I daydreamed of her going solo, or at least release an album on her own. Not that I did not like The Hush Sound, I just prefer female vocalists as many of you loyal readers won’t be surprised to hear. That why I was very happy to find out that the last album of THS was filled with Greta Morgan fronted songs, and was very sad when THS announced their indefinite hiatus. A few months after the news, the hiatus actually turned out to be not such a bad thing after all. Greta Morgan announced on her Twitter that she was recording solo material! This proves; sometimes your dreams might become real. The following months I kept checking Greta Morgan’s twitter page, to eventually found out that her solo project would be called Gold Motel. When the first Gold Motel song “Perfect In My Mind”, a perfect cheerful and upbeat song, surfaced on MySpace, it made my anticipation for the upcoming EP even higher (if that was even possible). The Gold Motel EP, released last month, contains five indie pop gems about life, love and everything in between. The songs vary from the very catchy and hooky and instant favorite “The Cruel One” where Greta sings about breaking up, and therefore being the cruel one to the, in my eyes, most THS-like song “Who Will I Be Tonight?” where she sings about being left/cheated on. There’s not a song on the EP you won’t like, and if the upcoming full length album, coming this June, is only half as good and endearing as this first release, we’re up for a treat!

Julie Rains

Julie Rains grew up in London, Ontario. As an introverted young girl she spent her days collecting little treasures and carting them around in an assortment of bags wherever she went, earning her the name "The Little Bag Lady." Her world was tidy and generally defined by peace, order and knick-knacks. It wasn't until after university when Julie began traveling that she discovered she liked collecting words instead. She began stringing them together, to make pretty things out of them. And, in typical, make-it-happen fashion, Julie decided that while she was at this creative business she might as well sing and learn to play the guitar: a way to hold all those words together. And so now, instead of bundling knick-knacks for her private collection, she bundles songs that can be shared. Her music is honest, inspired by hope, and refreshingly simple. For this new artist inspiration for writing is found in simple things. Be it good friends in her living room or strangers on a streetcar, spending time with people plays a large part in influencing her creativity. Julie grew up playing a number of sports but over time has become especially fond of running. It not only helps clear her head, but it's most often during these times alone Julie finds herself stumbling across catchy melodies and the words to fill them. Over the last few years Julie has grown into a dreamer and her new found dreams and love for words make for a great team when it comes to song writing. She loves LOVE and enjoys finding creative ways to write about it, sing about it, and share it. Julie's other passions include a love of reading, spending time with her 5 nephews and nieces, building community, and helping those in need. She also has a mean right hook when it comes to crochet and a newly budding love for the culinary arts. Julie's debut album "In My Place"was released last summer, and is available over at CDbaby.

Cami Bradley

Cami Bradley is twenty year old passionate singer-songwriter. Her debut album “Anomalous” is an eclectic collection of soulful piano driven ballads and dynamic acoustic rock. She has been singing and playing the piano since she was very young, and began writing at about 12 years old. Cami's music and lyrics are inspired by situations and stories in her life and the people close to her. Hard moments, and deep thoughts pour into the pages of my songbook…that created the music you hear today. Every song has a story behind it…and every song has something to share. "I’m passionate, and I hope you can hear it in the songs. I’m not afraid to put everything out there, and I hope I can reach people with the raw intimacy." Everyone that loves a singer-songwriter with unique vocals and songs, should definitely give this girl's music a try.
